A special, one-off screening of Revenge of the Electric Car to celebrate Drive Electric Week, $15 a head, rated M.
Revenge of the Electric Car follows four entrepreneurs from 2007 through the end of 2010 as they fight to bring the electric car back to the world market in the midst of the 2008 Global recession. The film has unprecedented access to Tesla co-Founder Elon Musk in the first three years of Tesla Motors during which Elon suffered several grave setbacks to his dream of a car company without gasoline.
Whereas the 2006 film Who Killed the Electric Car? ended with the destruction of 5,000 electric cars from California's clean air program, notably the GM EV1, the new film documents the rebirth of a new generation of electric cars including the Chevrolet Volt, the Nissan Leaf and the Tesla Roadster.
This event is organised by The Better NZ Trust who are working together with the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) to promote International Drive Electric Week in New Zealand.
EECA is promoting electric vehicles in New Zealand as part of the Government’s electric vehicles programme; EVs take advantage of New Zealand’s renewable electricity and create 80% fewer CO2 emissions than a petrol or diesel car
