SUNDAY 2 December, 2PM - 3PM
Hey Kids! Santa is coming to Christchurch this Sunday.
This year Electric Vehicles will be in the Santa Parade.
Do you think Santa will be riding in an Electric Vehicle?
Santa doesn't need the magic of electricity to power his sleigh. But there will be some cool EVs for you to cheer and support as they go by.
The sliced-in-half Nissan LEAF will be there, and you can look right into the guts of it, to see what makes it go. Remember the right-hand side looks ordinary, so you need to be standing in the correct place.
Also, thanks to EV City, there will be one of the very first electric vehicles ever to be made. The 1903 LEMS motor car, pictured above. I just bet that when Santa was a boy, he must have rode in one of those.
Also helping to bring Santa to town and to make a big outing for the EVs will be some modern electric cars. Yoogo Share are bringing a Hyundai ioniq and a BMW i3.
So grab your grownups and get them to take you into the central city, to the part of Madras Street that runs between Asaph and Kilmore Streets. It starts at 2pm and remember to be patient and good, because Santa is always the last to make an entrance.
