Leading The Charge Road Trip 2018

Planning is almost complete for the Annual Road trip. This year we are travelling from Bluff to Cape Reinga again with about 26 events planned. And we are excited to announce that Chelsea Sexton from the USA is joining us again for the entire trip!

ChargeNet have been very busy since the 2017 Roadtrip and there are so many more Chargers available countrywide that we hardly need to plan our stops. Thanks guys!

We have the IONIQ confirmed, a BMW i3 and one or two Leaf(s) coming along to show that anyone can make this trip. Of course there will be a few Tesla to drool over as always.

It is our goal to try to let as many people as possible experience a drive, or at least a ride in the future of automotive transport.

Events are listed here, and on out Facebook page.

As always we would love to see any EV owner join us at an event or on any of the legs.

Can you stop for a few minutes at the very new charging station at Roxburgh on the way through? Would really appreciate that. TIA

Will there be any McLarens to race against this year? Asking for a friend…

    Hi Terry,
Stopped in lovely Oamaru on the way down. That charger has been in a while. You are right there are so many new chargers in the South we could not possible stop at the all.

Hi. With the steady installation of charge points in our town & district, are you really going to transit our town of Oamaru on SH1 without a scheduled stop?

Tim Gow – you would be most welcome to join us for any section of the Trip on the South Island! We haven’t got an Outlander in the fleet this year either, so yours would be a welcome addition!
Let us know which bits you want to come along for! I am figuring Invercargill to Dunedin possibly?

My son and I are keen to drive at least the South Island part of Leading the Charge 2018 road trip in our 2013 4WD Mitsubishi Outander PHEV.
We joined in the 2017 EV road trip for the Southland section and I see we are in photo at top above.
We are Happy to give rides and maybe drives in our outlander.
Let me know if you want a 4WD PHEV joining in.
    Cheers Tim Gow

    Hi Jonathan,
Sorry it is difficult to get everywhere.
Perhaps they could meet us at one of the other stops. Or talk about an event later in the year when some local chargers open.

Disappointed that you aren’t visiting Masterton. Our Mayor has just got an Ioniq as her Mayoral car!.
