Preparations are nearly finished for the Leading the Charge EV road trip over 5000km from Bluff to Cape Reinga from March 14 to April 3.
EV owners are being invited to join in on any leg or attend some of the 26 events planned along the way.
Californian EVangelist and regular visitor Chelsea Sexton is going along for the entire ride, while two French students on an EV tour of New Zealand will join in for about four days.
ChargeNet NZ says it has many more chargers now in place, so completing the journey should be a breeze.
The aim is to have as many people as possible experience an EV drive or ride during the tour.
Much more information features in EVtalk’s upcoming February magazine.

Each month we publish an "EV report" to track how we are going against the targets set by the Government in May 2016. This is to double the number of electric vehicles in New Zealand every year to reach approximately 64,000 by 2021. The comparative numbers in this report may vary a little from previous reports as the Ministry of Transport is working hard on ensuring accurate reporting including correct analysis of plug in hybrids and battery variants.
August saw another record number of EV registrations (excluding Paxsters), and what great timing! - as judging by the huge interest already shown in EV World and International Drive Electric week, September is looking good too :)

May saw a record number of EV registrations (excluding Paxsters), and judging by the nearly 3,000 rides and drives given during the road trip, there are a few more in the pipeline for June as well!
