North Island Events

Electric vehicles (EVs) aren’t the stuff of science fiction, they are very real and they are here to stay!

If you haven’t seen an electric vehicle for yourself, come along to a Leading The Charge event.  At these events, you will be able to talk to some of the owners or read information about the current EV situation in New Zealand and what steps are being taken to increase uptake.

Auckland - 24 April - Great EV Road Trip

    WEDNESDAY, APRIL 24TH 2019, 10:30 AM - 2PM

Sponsored by Ecotricity, this event is shaping up to be a huge turnout of electric vehicles.

The Road Trip convoy will be stopping in Auckland as it heads on its final legs towards Cape Reinga. This epic journey of over 5,285 km is held annually by #LeadingTheCharge volunteers, whose goal is to promote electric vehicles (EVs) in towns across New Zealand.

The Warehouse carpark in Dargaville, New Zealand

Dargaville - 25 April - Great EV Road Trip

    THURSDAY 25th April 2019, 1 – 2 PM

The Great EV Road Trip cars will be pulling into Dargaville just after midday, on our tour of New Zealand. You'll notice us arrive when you see our ANZAC Day procession down the main street, as our way of marking this solemn day.

We will then proceed around to The Warehouse and be situated in the carpark where we'll be holding a mini-event.

If you are curious about electric cars or were wondering what the fuss was about, and why people love them so much, then come armed with your questions. We are all experienced EV owners and have the information you need to find out if an EV will fit into your lifestyle, either now or in the next few years.

Come down for a chat, and possibly a test drive or ride in an EV. Experience the difference for yourself.

Kerikeri Retirement Village in Kerikeri, New Zealand

Kerikeri - 26 April - Great EV Road Trip

    FRIDAY 26th April 2019, 4 – 5 PM

The Kerikeri Retirement Village is throwing open its gates to the public to come along to an Electric Vehicle EVent.

The #LeadingTheCharge Great EV Road Trip is in its fifth successful year, and travels right around the country aiming to promote electric vehicles at each stop it makes along the way.

In the past they've visited Paihia, but this year they are coming to Kerikeri where they'll be hosted by the EV-friendly folk at the Kerikeri Retirement Village.

After an epic 31 days, 41 events and 5,200km+, the road trippers will finish the following day at Cape Reinga. We expect a wide range of vehicles to be in attendance during these final stages, as well as experienced EV owners who can answer any questions you may have about this sustainable transport option.

Friends and family of the Retirement Villagers and the general public are all welcome. The event will be held in the main carpark or as directed on the day.
