Auckland to Puhoi EV Convoy

The old met the new on Saturday when 21 electric vehicles, ranging from the Nissan Leaf to the Tesla Model S, gathered at Charge Net NZ’s head office.  It was an early start for day one of International Drive Electric Week and the drivers were very pleased to be greeted with coffee from Mister Barista.

After being sufficiently stocked up on caffeine, the drivers got into their cars and winded their way in convoy, towards the historic Puhoi Pub.  It almost felt like summer as we drove along the Hibiscus Coast with the windows down.  The pub itself was a beautiful old building with a large beer garden; perfectly sized to host our group as well as the local motorcycle groups who also congregate there on a weekly basis.

A short while later, the team from the Matakana Market display came to join us and after a bite to eat, we all parted ways.

The total number of cars came to 24, including the 3 that we had on display at Matakana earlier.  They included:

BMW i3

BMW Active Tourer 225 Xe PHEV

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV

Nissan Leaf

Renault Kangoo van

Renault Zoe

Tesla Model S

Volvo XC90 PHEV
