Electric vehicles (EVs) aren’t the stuff of science fiction, they are very real and they are here to stay!

If you haven’t seen an electric vehicle for yourself, come along to an event or talk to a local dealer.  At these events, you will be able to talk to some of the owners or read information about the current EV situation in New Zealand and what steps are being taken to increase uptake.

Christchurch - 8 Mar - Twin Rivers Car Show

    SUNDAY March 8th, 10AM – 3PM

Once again, Christchurch EV Owners and Better NZ Trust are hosting the EV Arena at the Twin Rivers Motor show.

This is one of the biggest car events of the year, and is a great chance to talk to motoring enthusiasts and just general members of the public about Electric Vehicles.

We will be hosting display cars AND a test drive track, so please indicate if you are willing to give test rides or drives in your vehicle.

We also need volunteers to staff a test drive signup tent, to check licenses and pre-clear people for test drives.

We have a limited number of free passes for people volunteering with the test drives or signups or marshalling. If you just want to bring your EV along to show off or check out our display or the rest of the show, you will need to pay the $15 donation per vehicle (no entry fee, just vehicle fee) toward the Cholmondeley Children's home fundraiser.

Having said that, the arena we have for electric vehicles is absolutely massive, so it truely is a case of the more the merrier, and we'd love to have as many EV owners present as we can. This gives us a chance to show a huge EV presence, support and uptake. It gives you a great day checking out other EV vehicles and connecting with other owners and we all get to support a really worthy charity.

Make sure you bring water, sunscreen, a hat potentially and food.

Please comment below or message me if you can make it, what car you will be bringing, and whether you can volunteer with anything or offer test drives.

    EV NI Road Tour 2020

    INTERNATIONAL DRIVE ELECTRIC WEEK

    SATURDAY 26th September – SATURDAY 3rd October 2020

    Register your interest: https://forms.gle/sBJmPFWg3uB7Pma39

Join other EV Owners on the ultimate North Island Road Tour as we travel counter-clockwise from Auckland to Auckland via Hamilton, New Plymouth, Whanganui, Wellington, Feilding, Taupo, Tauranga, Coromandel and Thames.

Low range cars may start a day early to get to New Plymouth from Auckland. Join in for the whole NI tour or just a section of it. Alternatively, take the ferry in Wellington to catch up with the SI tour in Westport.

Don't have an EV that can go the distance?  Why not share a ride with friends. This tour is open to all EV owners/drivers and their families. You do not have to be a member of Leading the Charge.

This is a rally style tour, and all expenses will be your own. This means you can travel as cheaply or as posh as you like. We'll list motels that we aim to stay in, but booking these will be optional.

We've tried to make most days relatively short driving distances so that we have time to stop and visit some interesting places along the way. From wind farms to off-the-grid power stations, we'll even have a go at gold mining.  Visiting the Coromandel is a first for the Leading The Charge Road Tour.

This year we will not be holding events at each stop, but if we get enough cars, we're sure to draw a crowd for some impromptu EV promotion. This is a fun week, for EV Owner camaraderie, and stretching your EV legs.

Register your interest by filling in the following basic questionnaire, so we can keep you informed. This does not oblige you to attend at this stage. https://forms.gle/sBJmPFWg3uB7Pma39
